Pakistan Launches Probe into Spy Agency Intimidation Claims by High Court Judges
Pakistan to Investigate High Court Judges' Claims Against Spy Agency
Pakistan will look into claims made by High Court judges that they were pressured by the country’s main spy agency. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced that a special team will investigate the accusations. This decision was made after six judges from the Islamabad High Court wrote a letter alleging that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had been intimidating them to influence political cases. The judges mentioned instances where the ISI had intimidated them through their friends and relatives. Despite bringing these concerns to their superiors, the interference continued. The army's media office did not respond to requests for comment. Tarar stressed the importance of thoroughly investigating the matter, especially given past allegations of military interference in politics. Prime Minister Sharif will make the final decision to establish the investigative team in a cabinet meeting on Friday.
